Evelyn White Obituary

Evelyn V. White CHESAPEAKE - On Nov. 28, 2010, God saw the road was getting rough for Evelyn V. White and gently whispered, "Peace Be Thine." Born March 24, 1924 in Yeatesville, N.C., to the late Nathaniel and Eva McClease Brown, Evelyn White died at Chesapeake Regional Medical Center after a lengthy illness. She was a faithful Christian and longtime member of New Light Baptist Church in Chesapeake. Evelyn was a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and friend. Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Turner White Sr.; one daughter, Lendia Richardson; two sisters, Excie Sutton and Ludie Mae Spruill; one brother, Aronius Mullen. She leaves to cherish her memory three daughters, Gay White, Cheryl Boamah and Cassandra Smith; two sons, Turner White Jr. and Rickey White; three brothers, Cleo Brown, Willie Alton Brown and Percy Mullen; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A funeral will be held Friday, Dec. 3 at noon in Divine Baptist Church, 2917 Old Galberry Road, Chesapeake, VA 23322. The family will receive friends at Corprew Funeral Home, 1822 Portsmouth Blvd., Portsmouth, Dec. 2 from 7 to 8 p.m. The interment will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park, 1101 Campostella Road, Chesapeake.
