Nancy Straube Obituary

Nancy C. Straube VIRGINIA BEACH - Nancy Carlson Straube, 49, died Nov. 30, 2010, with her family at her side. She was born Aug. 20, 1961, in St. Louis. Nancy graduated from Central Methodist University (1983), where she found the love of her life, Ricky Straube. They married Dec. 8, 1984, and enjoyed 25 years of marriage. Nancy was a beloved daughter, wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend. She spent her life enriching the lives of children as a teacher, scout leader and softball coach. She inspired each person she met. She was preceded in death by her father, John T. Carlson Sr. She is survived by her husband, Ricky Straube; her daughters, Amber, Brittany, and Catie Straube, all of Virginia Beach; her mother, Jean M. Carlson of St. Peters, Mo.; her brothers and sister, Tom and Kim Carlson of Webster Groves, Mo., Don and Denise Carlson of Naples, Fla., Patty Carlson of Port Richey, Fla.; and countless friends. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. in H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Laskin Road Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Nancy's name at Chartway Federal Credit Union, 160 Newtown Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23462. www.hdoliver.com.
