Thelma Tyson Obituary

Thelma M. Tyson NORFOLK - Thelma "Jackie" Tyson, 96, passed away Dec. 2, 2010. Jackie was born in Chesapeake to the late Nora and Marshall Jennings. Jackie was predeceased by her brother, James Jennings of Virginia Beach; and sister, Edna Catlett of Florida. Jackie was a retired interior decorator. As well as decorating, she loved ceramics, and was an advanced seamstress. There was nothing she couldn't sew. She attended the Gateway Freewill Baptist Church in Virginia Beach. Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 50 years, Duncan Tyson; brother, Marshall Jennings of Virginia Beach; niece, Nora Morse of South Mills, N.C.; three nephews, James Davis of South Mills, N.C., Ralph and Robert Jennings. A visitation will be held today, Dec. 3, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 5792 Greenwich Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23462. A graveside service will be held at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens Saturday, Dec. 4, at 11 a.m. The Rev. Dale Burden will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Gateway Freewill Baptist Church, 5473 Virginia Beach Blvd., Virginia Beach, VA 23462. Condolences may be expressed to www.altmeyer.com.
