Gertrude Gregory Obituary

Gertrude A. Gregory CHESAPEAKE - Gertrude Marie Ayers Gregory, 77, passed away Thursday, Dec. 2, 2010 in a local hospital. She was retired from Super Fresh Market as the deli manager after 15 years of service. Born in Roanoke, Va., she was the daughter of the late Ocelia Booth Ayers and Robert E. Ayers Sr., and was the widow of Ervin Wood Gregory Sr. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church and the Women's Society of the Church. Left to cherish her memory are two sons, Ervin W. "Woody" Gregory and wife Sherry of Chesapeake and Douglas M. Gregory and wife Janet of Shiloh, N.C.; four sisters, Doris A. Kelly and husband Mitchell of Hampton, Lois A. Crish of Norfolk, Frances A. Walker and husband Junior of Virginia Beach, and Judy A. Davis and husband Billy of Newport News; two brothers, James Ayers and wife Betty of Moyock, N.C., and Robert Ayers Jr. and wife Peggy of Portsmouth; seven grandchildren, Melanie, Amber, Falon, Brett, Haley, Jon, and Ashley; and great-grandchildren, Katlyn, Lilly, Abby, and Wynter; and her special friend, George Sharp. A funeral will be conducted at noon Monday, Dec. 6, in the Immanuel Baptist Church by the Rev. David L. Libengood and the Rev. Tracy Gregory. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at H. D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Chesapeake Chapel, Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
