George Pallette Obituary

George Pallette Sr. PORTSMOUTH - George W. Pallette Sr., 84, died Thursday, Dec. 2, 2010. A native of Norfolk, and the son of the late George W. and Blanche Corbell Pallette, he retired in 1984 from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard as a General Foreman in Shop 72. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and a member of St. Christopher's Episcopal Church, Portsmouth, where he was assistant to the treasurer for many years. He loved fishing, helping others and was an avid bridge player. He is survived by his wife, Martha Jones Pallette; a son, George W. Pallette Jr. of St. Louis, Mo.; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Catherine Ansell of Knotts Island, N.C. He was predeceased by his first wife, Anna, and a daughter, Rebecca. A graveside service will be held Friday, Dec. 10, at 11 a.m. in Olive Branch Cemetery by the Rev. Eileen Walsh of St. Christopher's. A reception will follow the service at the church. Memorial donations may be made to St. Christopher's Episcopal Church, Operating Budget, 3300 Cedar Lane, Portsmouth, VA 23703.
