Henry Johnson Obituary

Henry H. Johnson II VIRGINIA BEACH - Henry Harrison Johnson II, who lived 57 years to the absolute fullest, moved on to his next great adventure Saturday, Dec. 4, 2010 at 12:30 a.m. after courageously fighting his battle with esophageal cancer for nearly three years. A native of Virginia Beach, Henry was the son of the late W. Taylor and Foye Keeter Johnson. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Foye J. Adkins. Henry is survived by the love of his life, Laurie Zirkle Johnson and his five beautiful, adoring children, Mariah Elizabeth Johnson and her partner Becky Williams, Sarah-Ashley Johnson Wilkerson, Henry Harrison Johnson III and his wife Ashley Johnson, Hilary Parker Johnson and Marion Foye Johnson. He also enjoyed six years with his precious granddaughter, Rhaegan Taylor Wilkerson. Henry's loving siblings include Maria Karnitschnig, W. Taylor Johnson Jr. and his wife Rena Johnson, Eunice Baugh and her husband Steve Baugh, and his twin sister, Margaret Miller; as well as many special nieces and nephews. His constant companion, chocolate lab Skylar and Maine Coon cat Mr. Kitty, will miss him all of their days. Henry, a.k.a. the Legend, was an avid waterfowl hunter and enjoyed a multitude of hunts with his son, brother, and good friends. Those times meant so much to him, from his first hunt as a child to his last hunt this season. The highlight of his hunting season was the annual trip to Canada with Harrison and Taylor. He also loved to fish and enjoyed many days with his children on the boat. His favorite vacation was the family week in Hatteras each summer. He loved having all his kids together and cooking on the beach. There will be a private service held for family only. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to ecan.org or caringbridge.org. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Laskin Road Chapel, is handling arrangements.
