Savilla Harrison Obituary

Savilla Eley Harrison NORFOLK - Savilla Eley Harrison, 89, transitioned to her heavenly home Dec. 5, 2010 at Prince William Hospital in Manassas, Va. She was the wife of the late Terry M. Harrison. Until a few years ago, she was a resident of Chesapeake. For more than 30 years, she was employed by the Norfolk Naval Supply Center. Her Christian fellowship led her to the Historic Queen Street Baptist Church, as a member for over 60 years. Her mission with Queen Street Baptist Church included her starting the Helping Hands Ministry/soup kitchen, chairwoman of the Female Usher Board No. 1, deaconess and deacon emeritus. Her memory is cherished by her daughter, J. Harrison Coleman (Neil) of Bristow, Va.; granddaughter, Asa B. Coleman of Bristow; sister-in- law, Mary Jean Eley of Windsor, Va.; caregiver, Dale Jordan of Windsor; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Her homegoing celebration will be held at Queen Street Baptist Church, Thursday, Dec. 9 at 1 p.m., with burial at Roosevelt Memorial in Chesapeake.
