Charles Britt Obituary

Scottie Britt PORTSMOUTH - Charles Scott Britt, 32, known to many as Scottie, passed away in his home Dec. 8, 2010. He had been diagnosed with cystic fibrosis after years of battling pneumonia, and was recently waiting on the lung transplant list. Scottie was a native of Portsmouth and a graduate of I.C. Norcom High School, and worked at Bennett's Creek Nursery, where he enjoyed growing and working with plants, flowers and trees. Because he loved playing with the toddlers and babies in the family, he often took time to play with them during family events. He also enjoyed roller skating, being with friends and listening to music. He was predeceased by his father, Arthur B. "Bernie" Britt Jr.; his maternal grandparents, Charlie and Eva Malone; and his paternal grandparents, Arthur B. and Virginia Britt Sr. Scottie is survived by his beloved mother, Charlene Britt and his brother, Arthur B. "AB" Britt III. He also leaves behind many family members, including Ruth Hope, Helen Robertson, Bonnie and Max Paez, Kathy and Robert Saunders, Jerry Britt, Linda and Jimmy Seeds, Edith and Robert Walker; many cousins; and will be greatly missed by many others. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 13, in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, by the Rev. Mike Putnam. Entombment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 7 to 8 p.m. www.SturtevantFuneralHome.com.
