George Harold Kidd PORTSMOUTH - George Harold Kidd, 81, of the 600 block of Florida Ave., died Dec. 9, 2010 in his home. A native of Portsmouth, he was retired from the Painter's Union Local 1100. Mr. Kidd was a member of Port Norfolk Baptist Church and was an avid football and baseball fan. He was predeceased by a brother, David Kidd. A devoted and loving husband and dad, he is survived by his wife, Lydia D. Kidd; one daughter, Ellen McDowell and husband Don of Basehor, Kan.; four sons, Sammie L. Edwards of Portsmouth, Curtis Edwards of North Carolina, Kenneth Edwards of Virginia Beach, and Charles Edwards of Portsmouth; one sister, Jewel Diamond of Texas; two brothers, Wiley Kidd and Lewis Kidd, both of Portsmouth; seven grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. A special thanks to Brenda and Sam Hodgson for their love and generous care and support. A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 13, in Port Norfolk Baptist Church by the Rev. Terry Taylor.
