Ralph Bastian Obituary

Ralph A. Bastian III KNOTTS ISLAND - Ralph Antone Bastian III, 57, of the 200 block of W. Gibbs Road, passed away Dec. 27, 2010 in Virginia Beach. He was born May 22, 1953 in Washington, D.C., and worked as a framing contractor. He was a member of Ducks Unlimited and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He is survived by his beloved wife of 21 years, Darla Sue Bastian; his mother, Joan W. Bastian of Chesapeake; his daughter, Julie A. Bastian and son, Jared R. Bastian, both of Knotts Island; four sisters, Karen Knight and husband John of San Antonio, Texas, Sharon Jones and husband James and Theresa Rozier and husband Lee, both of Currituck, N.C., and Pam Shively and husband Ray of Chesapeake; his brother, Michael Bastian of Chesapeake; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his father, Ralph A. Bastian Jr. A funeral Mass will be conducted at 1:30 Thursday in St. Stephen the Martyr Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. Brain Rafferty officiating. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Great Bridge Chapel, is handling the arrangements. The family requests that flowers be omitted and memorials be made to a trust for his children, c/o Bank of Hampton Roads. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.hollomon- brown.com.
