Rose Berger Obituary

Rose F. Berger VIRGINIA BEACH - Rose Friedberg Berger passed away Dec. 27, 2010. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Irwin; her parents, Celia and Morris Friedberg; her sister, Dora and three brothers, Sam, Joel and her twin brother, Jake. She is survived by two daughters, Madeline Lieberman and her husband David of Great Neck, N.Y., and Helené Frost and her husband Allan of Virginia Beach. She was blessed with seven grandchildren, Deborah, Marc, Linda, Leigh and his wife Mary and Lauren Lieberman, Lee Belote and her husband Jim and Scott Frost and his wife Nadine. She was doubly blessed with four great-grandchildren, Justin, Garrett and Ally Belote and Ruby Dare. She will also be missed by many nieces and nephews. In her lifetime Rose served as a volunteer Pink Lady at DePaul Hospital and was a member of many Jewish organizations. Her hobbies of knitting and reading kept her busy well into her 90s, as well as her love for mahjong and a good game of poker. Her love of cooking and baking was enjoyed by all. Forever young at heart, her great-grandchildren will always cherish the toy box that was brought out with each visit. Rose's family was her greatest joy and she will be missed by all of us. We would also like to thank the loving staff at the Terrace who cared for our mother as if she were their own family. Graveside services will be held in Forest Lawn Cemetery Thursday, Dec. 30, at 2 p.m. with Rabbi Rosalin Mandelberg officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Irwin and Rose Berger Fund for Cancer Research (Tidewater Jewish Foundation) or the Irwin Berger Scholarship Fund (Friends of Virginia Beach Library) H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Norfolk chapel is handling arrangements. Online condolences may be sent to the family at hdoliver.com.
