Nancy Bannon Obituary

Nancy A. Bannon VIRGINIA BEACH - Nancy A. Bannon, 71, passed away Jan. 2, 2011. She was born April 30, 1939 in Elesmere, N.Y., to parents Alberta and George Quinlan of Pittsfield, Mass. She attended Bethlehem High School in Delmar, N.Y., before graduating from Pittsfield High School in 1957. After graduating from Berkshire Business College, Nancy began working in General Electric Company's Ordinance Division until 1962 when she married her loving husband of 47 years, John E. Bannon, who passed away last summer. Nancy is survived by her son, John Eric Bannon and his wife Michele; daughter, Brooke Christine Fowler and her husband Geoffrey and grandchildren John "Jake" Bannon, Nicholas Bannon, and Evan Fowler, who all remember what a wonderful mother and grandmother she was to her family. She is also survived by two sisters, Sharon Parchinski and her husband Tony, Patricia Bertocci and her husband Peter; and her brother, Scott Quinlan; as well as nieces, Haven Parchinski, Amy Quinlan, Mekala and Avery Bertocci; and nephew, Derek Parchinski. Nancy loved gardening, playing bridge with friends, and attending craft shows. She was known for her beautifully landscaped yard, flair for decorating, and her amazing home-cooking. There will be no calling hours and interment will be private. Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.hdoliver.com. A memorial service will be announced for family and friends in the spring. If friends desire, memorial donations may be made to the Friends of Virginia Beach Animal Control, 2665 Leroy Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23456 to support the construction of a new pet adoption center. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Laskin Road Chapel, is handling arrangements.
