Minnie Ashworth Obituary

Minnie Lee Ashworth VIRGINIA BEACH - Minnie Lee Ashworth, 47, of the 4500 block of Revere Drive, died Oct. 29, 2008, in a local hospital. She was the beloved wife of Tracy Ashworth of Virginia Beach; mother of Charity, Amy, Megan, Kelly, Mercedes, Skylar, Samantha and Jason, all of Virginia Beach; daughter of Bonita Bacharach of Bailyville, Maine, and Harvard Adams of Levant, Maine; grandmother of Kayla, Shelby, Mia and Zoey, all of Virginia Beach; and granddaughter of Carl and Madeline Oase of Connecticut. Minnie is also survived by her two brothers, Harv Adams of Louisiana and Mark Adams of Massachusetts and one sister, Angel Dore of Maine and their eight children. Minnie was not just a mother to her girls. She mothered anyone who needed a motherly figure. She coached over a thousand cheerleaders, leading them to local, state and national titles. Though she has headed organizations, her true love for cheerleading was carried out by the Atlantic Shores Cheerleaders. Cindy Ritch, Joy Bryant, Andrea Garret and the cheerleaders at Atlantic Shores helped her and her family by giving them the love, strength and support they needed through good and bad times. Minnie touched the lives of countless people. Her girls, husband, son and grandchildren are the reflection of her life's work. Her goal was to raise a loving and happy family and she did just that. Her final wish was to be remembered through her girls. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday in Atlantic Shores Baptist Church. The Rev. Hugh Doyle will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Atlantic Shores Cheerleading, Florida Trip, c/o Atlantic Shores School, 1217 N. Centerville Turnpike, Chesapeake, VA 23320.

Charity, we have been reunited by cheer over the last few years and I have had the honor of meeting your mother as well. She was truly a blessing to the those in the cheer world and outside as well. She was inpirational with her family values and has passed them onto you and your sisters and brother. I can see a lot of her in you. You are an amazing mother and I will continually keep you and your entire family in my prayers. May God bless each and every one of you, for Heaven is a brighter place with Minnie in it. To Minnie's Family: My heart goes out to all of you during this sad time. Minnie fought the good fight and has now been rewarded with a place in heaven with our Lord, Jesus Christ. I'm sorry that I did not get the opportunity to know Minnie as much as I would have liked, but I loved her just as well, as she was such a wonderful sister to Harv and he loved her so much. Please know that all of you are in my thoughts and prayers at this time and that I'm proud to be a part of your family. On Monday evening at my church, my brother Mike, who is a deacon there, will participate in a mass of remembrance during which Minnie's name will be recited on the prayer list. I will attend this mass in Minnie's honor.

Love to you All, Susan
