Today marks the fifth year since the passing of one of OLTL's greatest players, the beloved Gerald Anthony who portrayed that lovable bad guy (Actually the very first lovable bad guy to hit the soaps) Marco Dane.
Jerry's family and friends have a dedication/memory page. I'm sure
they would love to hear any thoughts, prayers, or memories that you
may have of how Jerry and or Marco touched your life.

No, this can't be! I have thought about Gerald so often through the years and have often wondered how he was and what he was up to now. But unfortunatly life gets in the way and we say to ourselves
"I'll find out tomorrow" but as my father used to say "Tomorrow never comes". I am so sad to hear this news 5 years after the fact. May he always be in his fans memories, he will be dearly missed and forever remembered.

I just watched an old episode of Family Feud and Gerald was a celebrity contestant which had the "Saints vs Sinners". I googled Gerald to see what he had been up to and was shocked to find out that he has passed on.
I loved him in his role as Marco on OLTL. My boyfriend at the time started watching OLTL because of Gerald. I am so sad to hear that he is no longer with us. Even though I never met him, I senced that there was something very special about him.I don't watch the show anymore, but Gerald was one of those characters who I often thought about from time to time.
The tributes to him I were beautifully written and heartfelt. I can tell that he was truly loved. I hope that he understood how much he touched and impacted the lives of his family, friends, and fans. And even though he has physically passed from this earth, he wil remain forever in our hearts.
Thank you for the opportunity to express my condolences and may God be with you all.

I am 40 years old. I grew up watching the soaps. I stopped watching in the mid 90s but never forgot some of the colorful characters. One of the characters that stand out most for me is Marco Dane. lol I never forgot him. I liked him. Even tho he was a "bad guy" he was awesome. I agree with the woman who commented underneath me. . . It is amazing how someone you never met can touch you and leave a lasting affect on you. We are all nothing more than a ball of energy encased in a skin suit. Energy never dies. It only changes. Gerald's energy level is so strong and his color so bright, he was able to touch and affect many through his work and his skill of acting. I will never forget Marco Dane. I wish I could have known Gerald Bucciarelli. He will be greatly missed :(

How is it that some people make such a deep impression on you even though you never meet them? How is it that a character like Marco Dane could have touched me so deeply? I don't know the answer to either of those questions. I only know that Jerry's character is one that I will never forget. Through that character and him, I learned courage and to be a better person. For that, I will always be grateful. May the Angels always watch over you, Jerry, and your friends. You will stay in my prayers, always.
In gratitude,
Donna D.

I learned of Gerry's passing only yesterday---after four years--I never knew.
I am in shock.
Butchie cast me and directed me in my first production as an actor in New York City in September of 1976.
We performed Pinter's THE DUMBWAITER.
I was cast opposite Johnny Phillips who I am great friends with to this day.
Butch was an excellent director--clear,strong and he loved to laugh, and he laughed with his whole body--a convulsive laugher--a pleasure to behold.
We hung out in the 70's as neighbors in Soho.
I have been thinking about him a lot lately even saying his name out loud and then I discover he is gone.
I will miss along with everyone else--and I am indebted to him for starting my career

I apologize for not knowing sooner that Gerald Anthony Bucciarelli had departed to a better place. I was looking at the One Life to Live web site, and it made me think of a character so profound, and I greatly miss. I wanted to see him reappear on the show as his character Marco or Mario Dane like the Buchannan's on the 10,000th episode show of OLTL. I just learned of his passing when "googling" his name, and I am deeply saddened. I will see you in heaven Gerald.

I'm a bit new age and Jerry was too! Friday the 26th I had a cranio sacral therapy session and broke down in tears. I miss Jerry more then I've ever missed anyone or anything. He was more then a brother to me, he was a father, friend, mentor and guidance counselor. After my session, the therapist and I talked. I asked a lot of existential questions and she responed with, I'ts an inside job". Jerry told me that over and over again over the years. He used those exact words. I believe he spoke to me that day through my friend. I know he is with each of us who love him vibrating in a higher energy field. I look forward to the day I can meet him at that level.
I love you Jerry.

WOW! What a great man! I loved Gerald as Marco Dane. I was a little tot when my mom sat us down to watch One Life To Live. When he left the show, I stopped watching it but then returned very shortly their after hoping he'd come back. He was one of the greatest actor, I'd ever seen. I was crying the other night when I saw him on She Hates Me but they were tears of joy. It was good to see him again. He will be greatly missed.

Dear Mrs. Bucciarelli,
I was Gerry's next door neighbor for a time when he lived in Marina del Rey. We became friends as neighbors often do, sharing our complaints and differences in politics, religion and other such thought provoking topics. Gerry was a very intelligent, creative thinker with a passion for debate rarely matched, especially when we disagreed! We lost touch over the past years as he moved away and for some reason, his spirit touched me today. I was compelled to search for him on the Internet today, thought I'd send him a holiday card this year...
I just wanted to say how sorry I am for your loss. Gerry had such an impact on people whose lives he touched that is reserved for very few. To this day I quote him on certain views of life he carried and will always remember him as a passionate, creative charitable person I was fortunate enough to know.
God Bless you and your family.

Dear Family & Friends of Gerald Anthony Bucciarelli:
I just learned of Gerald's passing the other nite on my computer. I felt like I had lost a family member, although I was only a fan.
I fell in love with that charming character, Marco Dane, when I was just a young girl some 30+ years ago. When Gerald left the show, I lost interest in the soap opera, because he had been such a phenominal actor that he left a huge void that was never filled.
Awhile ago, I was watching Law & Order & I sat up in bed and yelled "That's Gerald Anthony!!" I was so happy to know he was still working and still so VERY handsome.
I am very sorry that he passed away so young and suddenly. I will keep his family in my thoughts and hope that time will help to heal some of the heartache. Please know that he was very special to many and he will be in our hearts always.

Hello Josephine and Mary Lou. I grew up close to Jerry. I am Danny McGibbeny's nephew and remember him both as a teenager in Brookline and as an adult. When I was young I would watch him and my uncle practice with their band, and remember the day they all played on TV. The whole family was there to watch. I think there's still a recording of this event in the closet upstairs on audio tape. Later in life I remember sitting by the TV again with all eyes glued on Marco Dane. It was a ritual thing with mom and Gram. He was really cool. To me as a teenager, watching soaps was not high on my list of things to do, but Butchy had an appeal that reached beyond the generations. Everyone loved him, including myself. One New Years Eve in the early 80s he surprised everyone by just popping in for the party at mom's house. She and Gram, and everyone else for that matter, were just so delighted to see him, and my aunt nearly passed out. "There's Marco", she cried. It's been a while now since Jerry's passing, but the hurt never seems to go away. Jerry was a great guy, and I know that he is kicking back in the clouds with my Uncle Danny, drinking a beer and keeping one eye glued to those of us still here, watching over us until the day that we all meet again.

Just wanted to say I was really surprised to hear about Gerry's passing. I was actually just watching an old ep of "MacGyver" with Gerry, which makes me think about some of my old favorites on the soaps which I used to watch religiously. As I've done in the past, I went to the IMDB just to see if any of them had done anything new, and that's how I learned of Gerry's passing just minutes ago. I did a search for more information, and that landed me here. All I can say is that he was part of a group of people that brought me a ton of enjoyment as I grew up on the soaps. Marco Dane was a phenomenal character; neither he nor Gerry will ever be forgotten. My condolences to those he left behind, family, friends, and fans!

It's been three months since your passing and there's not a day that goes by that I don't think of you. To Jerry: On your Birthday July 31
I lost a special friend this year on the 28th of May,
I still find it very hard to believe that he's really gone away,
I pictured that we'd meet again and talk about old times,
We shared such happy memories and he was always on my mind.
I always thought we'd have tomorrow
but tomorrow never came,
He left before I had a chance to see his face again.
I know he's the biggest STAR in Heaven and has a Major part to play,
He's directing and he's teaching,
He's finally doing Jerry's way.
Happy Birthday Jerry
Please know how much you're loved,
I know you're now at peace
On that beautiful stage up above.
You touched my life and heart in such a special way I will NEVER forget you...I NEVER did.
Love,

Dearest Family of my college pal, I am shocked and saddened to learn of the loss of one of the dearest people I have known. I now live in Pittsburgh, which Butch would have found ironic and would have teased me about...being a lifelong Californian. We were at College 5 together at UCSC and there was never a dull moment with his warmth and spontaneous spirit. Butch's girlfriend at the time was my closest friend, Susan, and they remained in contact for many years. She broke the news to me today and I am wishing it were not true. We had great fun at his house on Bay Street. I last saw him at our 2oth Reunion from College 5 in 1994 and we were photographed together for the Banana Slug Newspaper -- it was on the cover. I have the photo and would be happy to share it with you. It was a beautiful and deep conversation about life, growth, love, one that I will cherish always and have not forgotten. We were blessed to have had him as our college buddy, so much talent, so bright and fun and full of life and mischief. I send love and prayers and tears. I know he would not want us to be consumed with sadness. My memories of him are a tribute to you, his family. Had I known, I would have been there for you all at the services. With deepest sympathy and a smile for having known such a wonderful person...louise rosen (married name byer)

I was just running through some SoapNet information when I came upon the notification about Gerald. I remember him so well in the roles that he played. He was such an amazing actor, but from everything that I've read before and since his death, but an even more amazing human being and man. I know that his family and friends will miss him far more than his fans. Blessings to you Gerald, you will be greatly missed.

To the Family of Gerry Bucciarelli
I knew Gerry when we all lived in Brookline and Resurrection School, he was always so kind and sweet. I had bumped into him years later on a flight from NY to Pgh and did not know he was an actor...we sat together and I was so shocked when 1/2 of the people on the flight were asking for his autograph...we howled all the way home because I said I did not need him to sign anything for me, he was just Gerry from Brookline!
God Bless your family and we all know Gerry is in Heaven looking down on us all.

I was stunned at the news of Gerald's death. I regard him as one of the finest actors to ever grace the small screen. He brought many memorable scenes a bit of humor, alot of sincerity & a great amount of professionalism. I enjoyed watching him and was sorry to see him leave. Now I am more sorry that he won't be seen again. We'll miss you. Godspeed Gerald.

One of my favorite storylines on OLTL was that of Marco Dane, so wonderfully portrayed by Gerald Anthony. He gave us all some wonderful viewing time and he will never be forgotten. May you rest in peace, Gerry.

I started watching Gerry on OLTL back in the late 70's and continue watching soaps today. I moved to NYC in the mid 90's to, myself, pursue a career in the soaps. Back around 2000, I finally hooked up with an acting teacher that finally made me "get it." No other teacher, and I had a lot, reached me the way he did. That teacher was Gerry Anthony. I was with him the whole time till he stopped teaching 3 years later. I had always hoped he would come back and I have yet to find another teacher that I feel even half as comfortable with. As his sister said in his eulogy, he was a genius! I'm just thankful that I have found some tapes of our classes. I didn't know him long and always wanted to know him better, but I loved Gerry and truly miss him. I would like Gerry's family, friends and fans to know just how many fellow actors and students have benefited greatly from working with and for Gerry Anthony! Thanks to all for caring! -JIM-

Oh my goodness!!! Today is the day that I found out that Gerald (my Marco Dane) had passed on. I didn't know that. As a teenaged black girl from Ohio (when Gerald played Marco Dane)I always felt that he made his character seem as though it could have been of ANY race!! He was so good-looking and fine!!! I've always loved him. I'm just so hurt! Even my brother thought "Marco Dane" was the shiznit!! My prayers and condolences go out to your family. Thanks for lending him to us!! PEACE!!!

Gerald Anthony is my brother. This was his eulogy.
Brother, son, confidante, teacher, leader, friend, mentor an inspirational artist. Jerry was all these people wrapped in one and much more. Anybody who truly knew him and loved him knew he was a genuine, good-hearted person. We were blessed to have him in our lives. Jerry was passionate and lived his life with zest. He traveled all over the world and tried everything from race care driving to parachuting.
Jerry was literally a genius; he was a brilliant actor and an idealist. Jerry was part of Woodstock, the 60’s revolution. He really believed the movement was about peace, love and harmony. He tried to live his life accordingly to those values and wanted to spread those values through his art. He chose the acting profession that at one time valued true artistic talent and produced worthwhile work but like so many things in our world that profession has changed and has taken on such superficiality that we rarely see great acting or significant artistry anymore.
But Jerry was a great actor and he will be remembered for his triumphs. We will celebrate his achievements today. We all remember his portrayal of Marco Dane on ABC’s soap One Life To Live. It was one of the most enjoyable times in his life. Not only was he acting but he was writing and directing for that show as well. His creativity in that part led to the development of General Hospital’s Luke and Laura. His contribution to daytime TV made them millions. After leaving the soap, Jerry worked on television in show like LA Law, Wise Guy, and McGyver. His successes in the entertainment industry are numerous from writing and directing to commercials and on stage production. He recently had the opportunity to be part of a Spike Lee production. A movie he will not even see. To this day, people tell me what a brilliant actor he is and that he was the best they’d ever seen on soaps.
More than his professional successes, Jerry triumphed as a human being. He touched the lives of many people with his generosity and kindness. In the 1980’s he gave the single largest contribution in history at that time to the Save the Children Foundation. With his funding, they developed an entire village in Nepal, high in the Himalayas making a monumental difference in the lives of all the people who lived there. He gave copiously to all kinds of charities, friends and family.
On a personal level, each person in my family had a special and unique bond with my brother. The connection I had with my brother was and is profound. I remember from the time I was a toddler wrestling with my brother on the living room floor and crying every time he got on an airplane to California or NY. My brother greatly influenced the person I am today. He introduced me to NYC, my first Broadway production, fine dining and limousine service. He helped me pick the colleges I attended and after graduating invited me to live in his apartment in SoHo. Those were some of the most exciting and carefree times in my life. We spent a lot of time together during those years and were great friends. He was one person whose advice I relied on. He taught me an appreciation for myself and introduced me to yoga, good books and music worth listening to! Most of all he listened to me and loved me. He guided me through my journey in life. I will continue to listen for his words of wisdom as I travel my path and believe that he will continue to be a guiding and protective force in my life. I will surely share his love with my daughter, Francesca and my nieces, Cassi and Carly who will not have the opportunity to grow up with him as Mary Lou and I did!
Dear Brother, I love you. Mary Lou, mom and dad love you. Patti loves you and anyone who really knew you, loved you. Thank you for being my brother.

I was shocked to learn of Gerald's passing. My deepest sympathies go out to his family and all of those who loved his work. He was gifted actor and I spent many years enjoying his portrayal of Marco/Mario Dane on OLTL. His twinkling eyes & smile were my reason for watching OLTL in the 70's! He will be adoringly missed.

To Gerry's Family, my heartfelt prayers and condolences. I have been heartsick for days since hearing of Gerry's passing. Though I haven't followed his career the last few years, Gerry would pop into my mind occasionally. I had always hoped that he would bring Marco/Mario back to OLTL. He was so talented and wonderful an actor, that a fan like myself could never forget him. Even after all these years. I hope everyone remembers that he took a 2 or 3 day bit part character and turned him into a Soap Legend. There aren't many others who can say the same.
God Bless you Gerry. My prayers that you are sitting with Jesus in God's Holy Heaven enjoying his promise of eternal LOVE & LIFE!

Words cannot even begin to express what this sudden loss means to Jerry's mother, sisters, girlfriend and the rest of his family. Jerry was a special intelligent, talented, and above all, very loving and sensitive person. I have come to learn that his work was a passion that he approached with intensity and a sense of perfectionism.
But I knew him as a bother-in-law who was always there for his family. A great void has been created that must be overcome.
