Arlene Itterly Ryan

Arlene Ryan Obituary

Arlene Itterly Ryan
of Johnson City, N.Y.
Arlene Ryan passed away on July 4, 2008, almost 84 years young, after a long, long siege against our enemy, cancer. Now we know real strength and will. She was predeceased by her mother, Margaret, 77 years back; and her father, William, in 1969; her husband, Tom Ryan 14 years previous; her sister, Beatrice; and her very good friend, Don Campos, 4 years ago. Arlene was a devoted mother to her children and mentally followed the activities of her grandchildren and their families. She is survived by her three sons, Fred (Chip) and his fiancée, Carrie Strano, Binghamton, Bill Ryan, Binghamton, and Tom Ryan, Florida; her daughter, Peg Ireland, Florida; grandchildren, Kim Mordwinkin and Sylvain LeFebvre, Endicott, Todd and Nicole Ryan, Johnson City, Cassie Ryan, New York City and Florida, Emerson Ryan, Binghamton, and Shannon Ireland, Florida; great-grandchildren, Alex, Elena, Andre, Joshua, Justin, Makayla, and Jordan; one cousin, Janet and Mike Budnovitch. She was a member of Sarah Jane Methodist Church, American Legions everywhere, VFW Auxiliary, Moose and Elks clubs, and probably others. She graduated from the first class of North High in Binghamton, N.Y., then married Fred Ryan, and later married Tom Ryan. She retired from SUNY Binghamton. She volunteered at all of her clubs, organizations and church. Arlene was very generous with her time and modest resources and was genuinely loved and appreciated by all in her world. Many will miss her, but many, many more know, she truly lived. At peace at last, where she needed and deserved to be.
A Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, July 9th, 2008, at 10:00 a.m. at The Walter D. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, Inc., 45 Oak Street, Binghamton, New York. Entombment will be in Vestal Hills Memorial Park. Friends may call at The Sullivan Funeral Home, Tuesday, July 8th, from 4 till 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lourdes Hospice Program and the Danielle House, in memory of Arlene Itterly Ryan.
