Grace Hennessey Obituary

Grace Edna (O'Dell) Hennessey
of East Branch, N.Y.
Grace Edna (O'Dell) Hennessey, 73, of East Branch, N.Y., died July 10, 2008 at Lourdes Hospital. She was born on February 11, 1935 at Peakville, N.Y., the daughter of Frank and Pearl (Davies) O'Dell. She married Wayne Grayson Hennessey on July 21, 1951. She was predeceased by her husband, Wayne; her parents; sister and brother-in-law, Mae and Leo Skinner; nephew, Dail Skinner; and brother-in-law, Gerald Hennessey. Grace is survived by her children, Ricki Hennessey, Bonnie and David Nevin, Earl and Kelly Hennessey, Dick and Penny Hennessey, Mary and Gerry Wormuth. She is further survived by eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Inace "Tillie" Hennessey; several nieces and nephews and many dear friends. Grace worked in the family stone quarry while her children were small and then became a nurse's aid at Read Memorial Hospital. At age 41 she went back to school to obtain her License in Practical Nursing. She also worked for 10 years at Becton Dickinson. Grace was an honest, loyal and devoted wife, mother, aunt and friend. She made everyone feel welcome and at ease. Grace was an enthusiastic and successful deer hunter for many years; she loved to sing and dance, frequent yard sales and enjoyed a good dinner out. Grace loved her cats and hummingbirds. A special thanks to all her neighbors and friends for their friendship and support throughout the years, they were very special to her. Grace's goal was to instill in her children honesty, hard work ethic and enjoyment of life, for that we are very grateful.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday, July 16, 2008, at 1 p.m. at the East Branch Cemetery with the Rev. Paul Cicio, Pastor of the East Branch Community Church, officiating.
