Fenton M. Dimmick
of Nichols
Fenton M. Dimmick, 89, of Ro-ki Blvd., Nichols, went home to be with his Lord Friday afternoon, July 11, 2008, following a two-year period of declining health. Fenton was born on June 28, 1919 in North Rome, Pa., a son of the late Charles Lincoln and Lena Elaine (Bowen) Dimmick. He attended school in Orwell and Rome and was a graduate of the Towanda High School Class of 1938. Following graduation, Fenton entered into the US Army Air Corps. He had a great love for his country and proudly served his country for 34 years. Fenton was employed by the US Government through the Defense Contract Administration. He was employed at IBM as a Quality Control Engineer and General Electric and worked on the Atlas and Minuteman 1 and 2 missile projects. Fenton was a longtime member of the Nichols United Methodist Church, serving as trustee. In addition he was a member of the Air Force Sgt. Association; Past Master of the Westbrook Masonic Lodge 333 F & AM; Past Patron of Order of Eastern Star, Nichols and Binghamton; member of the Kalurah Shrine, Endicott; past president and member of the Nichols Ro-ki Club; and charter member of the Nichols Emergency Squad. Fenton enjoyed traveling, taking and sharing his photography with his friends and his community; he had a great love for animals and always looked forward to visits from the bears, deer, turkeys, birds and spending time with his cat, "Angus." Fenton is survived by his daughter, Linda Kosta, Apalachin; his son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Kay Dimmick, Tulsa, Okla.; stepson, John (Jan) Kosta, New York City; stepdaughter, Sandra (Fred) Bloom, Spring Hill, Fla.; sister, Irma Graham, Phoenix, Ariz.; his special grandchildren, Julia and Geoffrey; several nieces, nephews and their families also survive. Fenton was predeceased by his first wife, Julia R. Dimmick; his second wife, Mary Jean Dimmick; a son-in-law, Michael Kosta; his siblings, Josephine Sick, Towanda, Charles Dimmick, Monroe, N.C., Harris Bailey, Nichols, Leon Bailey, Orwell, Pa.
Funeral Services and celebration of Fenton's life will be held on Tuesday, July 15th, at 11 a.m. at the Nichols United Methodist Church, Main St., Nichols, with Pastor Rev. Dan Martin officiating. Interment with full Military Honors will follow in the Nichols Cemetery. A period of visitation and time of sharing memories will be held on Monday, July 14th, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 South Main St., Nichols. The Entire Krueger Family sends their condolences to the Dimmick Family on the passing of Uncle Frank. We have many fond memories from over the years when our family would get together with the Dimmick Family.
We will keep you all in our prayers. My Dad, Andrew Krueger was the brother of Frank's first wife Julia. We remember all those who have passed to the Lord, including our parents Marilyn (12-09-2007) and Andrew Krueger (May 20, 2008).
