Lillian Cruttenden Obituary

Lillian F. Cruttenden
of Oxford
Lillian F. Cruttenden of Oxford passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2008, at her home. She was the daughter of the late William and Carrie (Howe) Pope. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, William and Carol Cruttenden, Oxford; her grandchildren, William and Wendy Cruttenden II, Monroe, Wash., Robert and Denise Cruttenden, Wellsville, N.Y., and DeEtta and Seth Spalding, Woodstock, Conn.; her great-grandchildren, William Cruttenden III, Jacob Cruttenden, Rachel Cruttenden, Carilee Spalding and Alana Spalding; her cousin, Hilda Carey; her niece, Ina Pogar; and her nephews, Richard Buckingham and Richard Pope. Lillian was a member of the Nichols United Methodist Church. She and her husband owned Grass Cutting Equipment and Supply Co. in Vestal for many years.
Graveside Services will be held on Thursday, July 17, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. at the Nichols Cemetery, Nichols, N.Y. Memorial contributions may be made to the Oxford Fire Department Emergency Squad, PO Box 172, Oxford, N.Y. 13830. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Behe Funeral Home, 21 Main St., Oxford, N.Y.

Although I did not see Aunt Lillian often, I remember her as a very "up front" kind of person, always saying exactly what was on her mind. I remember going to a picnic at the big house in Nichols and riding around the yard on garden tractors (I think they were garden tractors). I am visiting the rest of the clan in Kansas this week and we all send our thoughts to you. Take care.
