Ann Hinkley Obituary

Ann Marie Hinkley
of Old Orchard Beach, Maine
Ann Marie Hinkley, 70, of Old Orchard Beach, Maine, entered into rest on Tuesday, July 22, 2008, after a 15 year battle with Huntington's disease. Ann is now in a better place. She was an inspiration to everyone she met and will be missed by many. Ann was born in Susquehanna, Pa., and met James there. The childhood sweethearts became husband and wife and made residences in the Sidney and Unadilla, N.Y. area for most of her adult life. Upon James' retirement in the mid-1990's the Hinkleys moved to Maine to live closer to James Jr. while their winters were spent living in their RV in Florida. She enjoyed being around friends and family. Camping was her favorite pastime and traveling was a way of life for her. Ann's family wishes to offer their thanks to the many that helped care for her over the years. The staffs at Seal Rock Health care and Southern Maine Medical center are to be commended for their excellent work and extra efforts. We mourn the loss of Ann Marie Hinkley of Old Orchard Beach. She leaves behind her loving and devoted husband of 50 years, James Wheeler Hinkley; their son, James Jr., Saco; her sister, Margaret Burdick, Lanesboro, Pa.; her sister, Marilyn Wanatt, Susquehanna, Pa.; her brother, John C. Brown, also from Susquehanna; and her many nieces and nephews and their children.
Friends are invited to greet the family on Monday, July 28, 2008, from 4 - 7 p.m. at Cathedral Pines Funeral Home, 156 Saco Ave., Old Orchard Beach, Maine. Funeral Services are private and at the convenience of the family. Donations, in memory of Mrs. Hinkley, may be made to Huntington's Disease Society of America (HDSA-New England), 6 Courthouse La., Unit #12, Chelmsford, Mass. 01827.

Heartfelt condolences Uncle Jim and Cousin Jim. I have many fond memories of Aunt Ann. She was always pleasant and friendly. Even while fighting her illness she remained that way.

I wish you both peace and comfort through the grieving. Stay focused on the good memories. She left many of them.

Sincerely,

Jack

Uncle Jim I'm not sure if I have ever met Ann (maybe when I was a little girl), but I have heard amazing things about her. If she was anything like you (sweet, funny, charming) than I know that she must have been a wonderful person. My family will keep her and the rest of your family in our prayers.

I only met Ann a couple times, but she was a very sweet woman, and I'm sure you will miss her dearly. Hold onto your memories, and the love you have for her in your hearts.

Jim Sr. and Jim Jr., I'm truly sorrowed by your loss of Ann. She was nothing short of "the best" in the 27 years that I've known her and your family. My prayers and thoughts are with you now and always.
