Metro Oleson
of Vestal
Metro Oleson, 84, of Vestal, died Tuesday, July 22, 2008. He was predeceased by his parents and several brothers and sisters. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mildred "Millie" Oleson, Vestal; his sons and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Diana Oleson, St. Augustine, Fla., Robert Oleson, Warner, N.H., Richard Oleson, Miami, Fla.; several nieces and nephews including Bob and Carol Hruby and Joanne D'Arienzo. He was a retired employee of the IBM Corporation, retiring after 27 years of service, and a member of the IBM Quarter Century Club. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II and was a branch manager for RCA and worked for Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. Metro enjoyed golf, bowling and spending time with friends and loved to travel.
A Divine Liturgy will be celebrated at SS. Peter and Paul Russian Orthodox Church, Uniondale, Pa. Saturday at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Pleasant Mt., Pa. The family will receive friends at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main St., Binghamton, Friday from 4-7 p.m. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Metro may be made to any charitable organization.

Even though I never really knew Metro, I had met him and Millie a couple of times when they came to visit Rick in Miami. I have worked with Rick for 25 years, and I believe that Metro was a pretty good father, considering what an upstanding son he raised.

Rick, I am so sorry for the pain you are feeling, and hope that you will fill the void with your fondest memories of your dad. My deepest sympathy for he entire family.
