John T. Sobiech
of Endwell
John T. Sobiech, 64, of Endwell, died peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Friday, July 25, 2008. He was predeceased by his parents, Anthony and Lottie Sobiech; two brothers, Peter and Emil Sobiech; and a sister, Mary Ann D'Amigo; also two brothers-in-law, Robert Kanabroski and William Demchak. He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Nancy Sobiech, Endwell; two daughters and one son-in-law, Christine Sobiech, Scarborough, Maine, Carrie (Ryan) Hurba, Endwell; two grandsons, Jordan and Milani Hicks, Scarborough, Maine; one granddaughter, Kaylee Marie Hurba, Endwell; two brothers and their spouses, Anthony Jr. (Jan) Sobiech, Johnson City, Stanley (Donna) Sobiech, Binghamton; mother-in-law, Marie Kanabroski, Endwell; four sisters-in-law, Joyce Demchak, Endwell, LaVonne Sobiech, Endicott, Marilyn Kanabroski, Apalachin, Christine Kanabroski, Rochester; two brothers-in-law, Mike D'Amigo, Johnson City, and Richard Kanabroski, Rochester; several nieces and nephews. John was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church, Endwell, and a Veteran of the United States Navy. He retired from the US Postal Service with 34 years of service. John enjoyed his retirement and spending time with family and friends. He also loved doing home improvements and traveling, especially to Myrtle Beach.
A Memorial Service will be held Sunday evening, July 27, 2008, at Laskowski Funeral Home. The family will receive relatives and friends at the funeral home from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., where a prayer service will be recited. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in John's memory by Rev. Thomas Hobbes on Monday, July 28, 2008, at 10:00 a.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church, Endwell. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. A Special Thanks to the nurses in the Neuro-Suite, and especially the staff at South Tower 5, Wilson Hospital. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in John's name to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements and supervision by:
