Richard Monroe Shurtleff
formerly of Binghamton
Richard Monroe Shurtleff, age 70, passed away at the Washington Hospital Center, Washington, D.C. on July 22, 2008. He was born on December 1, 1937 in Binghamton, N.Y. to the late Charlotte Monroe and Oliver Shurtleff. Richard graduated from Northern High School, Binghamton, N.Y. in 1956. He is survived by his children, Richard Shurtleff and his wife, Julie, Binghamton, N.Y., Kelly Shurtleff, Arlington, Tex., Sean Shurtleff, Binghamton, N.Y., James Shurtleff and his wife, Elizabeth, Compton, Md., Joseph Shurtleff and his wife, Connie, Lusby, Md., and the late Tommy Shurtleff; brother of Ann Fronda, Binghamton, N.Y., Robert Shurtleff and his wife, Shirley, Butler, Pa., Lee O'Day and her husband, Bill, New York City, N.Y., David Shurtleff and his wife, Lee, Dover, Del. and Joy Shurtleff, Great Bend, Pa. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
A Memorial Service will be offered at the Rausch Funeral Home, P.A., 20 American Lane, Lusby, Md. on Friday, August 1st, at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Ron Collier officiating. Interment will be private. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Inglesia Apostolica Pentecostal Hispana de Lusby Church, 10395 H. G. Trueman Rd., Lusby, Md. 20657.

I was very sorry to read of Dick's passing. Although we grew up together in Nimmonsburg, we did not keep up with each other as adults. I last met Dick when he and his son, Joe, came up from Maryland to attend his mother's funeral.

Thanks for including the picture. It reminded me of how handsome he was as a young man.

My sympathy to all of his brothers and sisters, his children and grandchildren.
