Helen J. McCoy
of Owego, N.Y.
Helen J. McCoy, 84, of Owego, N.Y., passed away early Sunday morning, August 3, 2008, at her home. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Keith McCoy; her daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Joseph McSweeney, Auburn, N.Y.; her sons and daughters-in-law, Leslie and Barbara McCoy, Apopca, Fla., Kevin and Deborah McCoy, Cheyenne, Wyo.; her grandchildren and spouses, Thomas (Abby), Jonathan (Beth), Katherine (Peter), Jessica (Zachary), Lauren; her sister and brother-in-law, Marian and Howard Liles; sisters-in-law, Idalee and Elsa Sanders; her aunt, Emma Murray; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her daughter, Sheila McCoy; and her brother and sister-in-law, William and Martha Sanders; and her brothers, Neil and Norman Sanders. Helen was born on June 9, 1924, in Conneaut, Ohio, the daughter of Eugene and Hazel (Mitchell) Sanders. She earned her B.S. in Sociology from the College of William and Mary in Virginia, and was a case worker for the Tioga County Department of Social Services for 20 years. Helen was a member of the Owego United Methodist Church.
A Funeral Service will be held at the Owego United Methodist Church, 261 Main St., Owego, N.Y. 13827, on Saturday, August 9, 2008, at 3:00 p.m., with Rev. Alan Jagger officiating. Interment will be in Tioga Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Family and friends are invited to visit at Richards Funeral Home, Rte. 17c West, Owego, on Friday evening, August 8, 2008, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Those wishing may direct a memorial contribution in memory of Helen to the Owego United Methodist Church. John and I were so sorry to learn of Helen's death. She was a wonderful, fun-loving, spunky lady who will be missed by all who were lucky enough to know her.

Helen was a wonderful lady and I worked for her at DSS many years ago and she was my supervisor. We shared alot of stories and had a similar sense of humor. She will be missed. I am so sorry for your loss.
