Salvatore Morreale Obituary

Salvatore "Sal" Morreale
of Tribes Hill, N.Y.
Salvatore "Sal" Morreale, passed away peacefully Saturday morning at the age of seventy five. Born in Amsterdam, N.Y. on June 28, 1933, he was the son of the late Santo and Lena Staczy Morreale. He was educated locally. Sal lived in the Binghamton area for a number of years and was employed as an electronic technician for the US Postal Service there until he retired in 1995. He shared his time between Binghamton and Amsterdam and was fortunate to have many loving family and friends in both places. From 1952 to 1956 he proudly served his country in the US Navy. He was a member of the VFW and American Legion both in Binghamton. In later years, Sal drove a school bus for special events in that area. He loved traveling and spending his winters in Florida and Texas. Sal will always be remembered as happy go lucky, with a wonderful sense of humor. He loved to drive and was always happy to help someone in need with any task, and was happiest when he was in his garden. In Amsterdam, Sal was a parishioner of St. Mary's Church, and in Binghamton, St. Christopher's Parish. At one time, Sal was a member of the Imperial Men's Bowling League. His first wife, the former Rose Marie Natoli predeceased him in 1999. His loving family includes his wife, Angela DePalma Hall; children, Robert (Shirley) Morreale, Livingston, Tenn., Sharon (Robert) Terry, Austin, Tex., Sandra Morreale, Houston, Tex. and Salvatore Morreale, Windermire, Fla.; stepchildren, Marianne (Gary) Mailen, Binghamton, Julianna (Gary) Johnston, Latham, Lisa Hall, Winterpark, Fla., Diane Hall (Vincent Mautone), Amsterdam, Denise Hall (Shawn Emery), Salt Lake City, Utah, and the late Robert Hall; sister, Mary Lou (Dominic) Curro, Voorheesville; twelve grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, Alexandro Pezzino, Aiden Bickos, and Nevaeh Gaige; seven stepgrandchildren; an aunt, Josephine Kaminski, nieces, nephews and cousins; and his special pal, Heide. A brother, Stephen Morreale, also predeceased him.
Calling hours were held Thursday, August 7, 2008, from 3-6 p.m. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, August 11, 2008, 11:00 a.m. at St. Christopher's Roman Catholic Church, Binghamton by Fr. Dear Angie and family, We are so very sorry to hear of Sal's passing,We worked with him for many years, and after he retired, also got together for lunch on occasion when he was in town. He was a good man. The obituary picture shows that beautiful smile, and twinkle in his eye that he always had on his face. He will be dearly missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you, Sal, may you rest in peace.
Love,
Maria and Tom
