Marie E. Shea
of Binghamton
Marie E. Phalen Shea, 86, of Binghamton passed away peacefully Friday afternoon, August 15, 2008, at Binghamton General Hospital. She was predeceased by her husband, John "Jack" Shea; her sister and brothers-in-law, Margaret and Robert Shea and Robert J. Green, Sr.; and her niece, Joanne Hart. She is survived by her children, Marilyn Bailey and Dana Thurston, Michael Shea, John and Susan Shea, and Robert Shea; her grandchildren, Joseph Bailey, Laura and Scott Craig, Katie Shea and fiance Charles Palaia, Emily, John, Brian and Molly Shea; her great-grandsons, Camden Craig and Alex Bailey; her sister, Josephine Green; several nieces and nephews; and a very dear friend, Helen Van Woert. Marie was a member of the St. John the Evangelist Church, Binghamton, and a graduate of St. Patrick's Academy. For many years, her family owned and operated The White Star Market on Binghamton's south side. Marie loved bingo and her scratch-offs. The family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Nicholas Stamato and the staff of Cardiology Associates, the staff of the Emergency Department and Memorial Six at Binghamton General Hospital, and the caring and dedicated staff of Good Shepherd-Fairview Home.
A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. John the Evangelist Church, corner of Vestal Avenue and Livingston Street, Binghamton, Tuesday at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main Street, Binghamton, Monday from 4-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial contributions to Priests of Holy Cross, Holy Cross Association, PO Box 771, Notre Dame, In. 46556-0771.

I only knew Marie as the incredibly kind & cheerful woman across the hall from a friend whom i visit quite regularly at Fairview. We always waived and smiled as i left. She was kind to my friend sharing her grapes and well wishes.

She is already missed.
