John Jones Obituary

John (Jack) Ronald
Jones, Jr.
of Windsor, New York
On August 24, 2008 John ended his long and arduous battle with cancer. John passed away peacefully at home with God and everyone he held dear in his heart. John was predeceased by his father, John; a son, Ronald; and brother-in-law, Richard Warren. He is survived by his loving wife and best friend for 38 years, Margaret H. Jones; Mary Jones, his devoted mother; three sisters, Beatrice Jones, Delores Evans, and Mary Louise Schatz; a brother, Robert Jones; and in-laws, Joyce Warren, William Schuck and Priscilla. John was a loving father and is further survived by a daughter, Kelly (Kay Kay) Hrehor and Edward – loving caregivers; a daughter, Denise Soules and Jeff; a daughter, Angela Reed; a son, Jonny Jones; a stepson, Robert Hacker and Sandy; a stepdaughter, Suzanne Hacker; and a stepson, Raymond Hacker. Grandchildren brought joy to his heart and he loved each of them: Christopher Plain (Love you Poppy); Courtney, Cody John, and Noah Hrehor (Love you Mr. F.W.), Jenise and Joelle Soules, Jeremy Jones and Laura Reed; Abbigail-Rose Hacker and Dustin Rutz; Aaron and Christian Hacker. John is also survived by special great-nieces, Jackie and Tracey; and a special nephew, Jimmy Evans; and many other nieces and nephews; as well as extended family members, Tom and Mariah. John was an Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict. Always strong, John worked for SWS at the United States Federal Building in Binghamton until he was no longer able. He was completely dedicated to working as an advocate for the differently abled; his sense of humor was legendary to his dear friends and family for making people smile and laugh. A lover of animals, John is now rejoined with his beloved golden retriever, Mucho Sweet Mikal.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m., Thursday, August 28, 2008, at the DeMunn Funeral Home, 36 Conklin Avenue, Binghamton. Interment will follow services in Vestal Hills Memorial Park. Family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services. Expressions of sympathy for the family may be forwarded to [email protected]. In lieu of flowers, donations from friends and family can be made in John's name to the animal shelter of choice. We now bid a fond "So Long" to beloved husband, son, brother, father, grandfather, uncle and friend.

Dear Peg, Mary, Dodie, Bea, Mary Louise, and Bobby:

We were so sorry and sad to learn of "Jug's" passing upon our return home from vacation. Tony is so glad that he got to visit with him before we went away. Know that the fond memories of all the good times we had together will hold a special place in our hearts and memories. Next time I meet Jug, I'll bring the ball.

It was an honor to know John. He was one of the few people who could actually make me believe the story he was telling was true...and we would laugh at how gullible I was! I look forward to seeing you on the other side!!!

Miss Angie and family, sorry to hear of your loss. Jack was a wonderful person with a wonderful sense of humor. He always stopped by my desk here as SWS and talked to me and he never failed to make me laugh. May your memories of him help you through the following days. Jack, RIP.

JJ was one of a kind & we'll miss him dearly! Of *course* it was hard to keep a straight face around him, & he got glee from the fact that if he were lighting my cigarette, he'd have to say, "No! No! INhale!" For 30 years it was the same story & I treasure all the laughter we shared. God bless & Godspeed, John.

Peg & Angie, my heart goes out to you.

"Halls, walls, floors, & stalls!" will echo in my mind, & I will smile.
