Yvonne Cowperthwait Obituary

Yvonne Alayne Cowperthwait
of Susquahanna, Pa.
Yvonne Alayne Cowperthwait passed peacefully to her eternal rest on August 26, 2008 after a brief illness. She was predeceased by a beautiful daughter, Cindy Lee; her parents, Harold B. and Frances Griswold; her brother, Harold M. Griswold; and four nephews, Mark, Chris, Toby and Peter Griswold. Survivors include her devoted life's partner of 55 years, Cyril W. Cowperthwait; three children and their spouses, Sherry and Gary Chandler, Dave and Lisa Cowperthwait, and Stephen Cowperthwait; six grandchildren, Katie, John, Chris, Matt, Rebecca and Stephen; cherished sister-in-law, Patricia Griswold; several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her beloved Gladys, who gave her infinite comfort and joy.
Among the many pleasures Yvonne enjoyed, family and friends reigned supreme; she delighted in her music, enjoyed the opportunity to travel, and took great comfort in her faith.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the compassionate nursing staff at Wilson Hospital, and to Binghamton General's ICU and Dialysis Units. Special appreciation to the wonderful nurses on the sixth floor of the Kremm's building, whose only concern was ever her care and comfort. Deepest thanks to Drs. Martinez and Jayaraman, without whom her time with us would have been much shorter.
A private celebration of Yvonne's life and loves will be held at a later date at the family's convenience. "And now she sings with the angels, a glorious sound to behold."

Uncle Cy, Sherry, David and Stephen,

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Aunt Vonnie. My heart goes out to you all for your loss. I remember the many times that we spent together when we were growing up and deeply cherish them. I was just thinking about everyone the other day and hoped that things were going well with everyone. Again, I am sorry for your loss and my deepest condolences to all.

Dear Cowperthwait Family,
I was so sorry to hear of Yvonne's passing. I worked with her at Singer-Link in the Engineering dept. She gave us many laughs and always went around in her stocking feet. Every once in awhile she would break out into song and wake us up from boredom. May God bless her with her heavenly reward and give you all the peace to know she is in good hands!

Dear Cy and family,
It has been several months since I saw Vonnie and was shocked to read of her passing. You all were truly blessed to have her in your life. I remember her in many productions of the Choral Society and what a beautiful voice. Vonnie also played the organ at our church in Lanesboro. What gifts she had with her music.
I also remember Cindy as she was a classmate of my daughter, Betty and neice, Tara.
You have so many wonderful memories to help you in this difficult time. May God Bless!

Dear Cy and Family,
Our deepest most heartfelt sympathies to all of you. Vonnie was a GREAT lady and a GREAT friend. I have many fond memories of her from choir and our many "chats".
May your memories help to get you through this most difficult time.
I'm sure heaven is rejoicing with the presence of their "newest angel". I bet she even has a front row seat in their choir.
If there's anything we can do for you, please don't hesitate to call.

Cy and Family,

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I remember swimming at your house years ago and Mom and Vonnie talking for hours!
What I remember most is that Vonnie never wore shoes---she would drive into town and never have them on.
She's singing with the angels now and at peace.
