Larry Bowen, 68, of Wappingers Falls, and most recently of McGraw, passed away unexpectedly on September 16, 2008 while doing what he loved to do best…fishing. Larry is survived by his daughters, Terri (Dennis) Underwood, Martha Temple and Kimberly (Arthur "Bud") Greene; his son, Michael Bowen; his brothers, Gerald (Treva) Bowen, Ron Bowen and Tom Bowen; his sisters, Lois Gent, Betty (Larry) Carmon, Marjorie (Richard) Keith; 15 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; including his special friend and fishing companion, Danny "Doc" Girton. Larry was predeceased by his parents, Walter and Clarinda Bowen; and his brothers, Dick and Bob Bowen. He was a self employed carpenter, working in the Wappingers Falls area for many years and an avid sportsman with a passion for fishing. Larry was a past president of the In-Fisherman Bass Club in Wappingers Falls and the winner of many fishing tournaments and championships.
A celebration of Larry's life will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, September 22nd, at the MacPherson Funeral Home, 5 Whig St., Newark Valley, with Rev. James T. Willard officiating. Interment will follow in Hope Cemetery, Newark Valley. His family will receive friends prior to the service from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
