Carlton D. Ward
formerly of Vestal
Carlton D. Ward, 73, of Concord, N.C., went home to be with his wife and the Lord Tuesday morning, September 17, 2008, with his family at his side. In addition to being predeceased by his beloved wife of 45 years, Patricia (Herzog) Ward, he was also predeceased by his son, James Ward; his parents, Ira and Marion Ward; siblings and spouses, Velma and Robert Woolever, Charles Thompson, Claude Ward, Eleanor Crawford, Douglas Ward, Martha and Russell Noyes; and a sister-in-law, Jane Herzog. He is survived by his children and their families, William Ward and his children, Lucas and Vanessa, Endicott, Mary and Robert Poet and children, Dylan and Melissa, Endicott, Reverend Thomas I. Ward, Pastor of Immaculate Conception Church, Greene, N.Y. and St. Joseph's Church, Oxford, N.Y., Gerald and Melinda Ward and children, Nicholas and Jacqueline, Webster, N.Y., Daniel and Oksana Ward and children, Carlton and Allison, Concord, N.C.; a sister, Viola Thompson; sister-in-law, Joyce Ward; brother-in-law, George Crawford; sister-in-law, Vivian Ward; sister and brother-in-law, Joanne and Jack Barton; two sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law, Lois and John Hayko and Jean Herzog; also several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was a member of St. James Church, Johnson City, and St. James The Great Church in Concord, N.C. He was a retired employee of the IBM Corporation in Endicott and a member of its Quarter Century Club. Carlton was a man of great integrity and had a strong devotion to his family and faith. The family would like to thank Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus County and especially his nurse, Amy, for the compassionate care given to Carlton.
A Concelebrated Funeral Mass will be offered at St. James Church, Johnson City, Tuesday at 10 a.m. with his son, Rev. Thomas I. Ward as Main Celebrant. Entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the J.F. Rice Funeral Home, Inc., 150 Main St. Johnson City, Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make memorial contributions to the St. James Church Memorial Fund, 147 Main St., Johnson City, N.Y. 13790 in Carlton D. Ward's memory.

Fr. Tom & family - Please accept our heartfelt condolences on the loss of Mr. Ward. Although we didn't know him, just by knowing Fr. Tom we can imagine what a wonderful human being he was.
