Mary Premock Lyons, 87, of Carbondale, died Tuesday, September 23, 2008, at the Carbondale Nursing Home. She was the widow of George Lyons, who died in 1985. Born in Simpson, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Martha Rushnock Premock. She was a graduate of Fell High School, Simpson. Prior to her retirement she was employed in several Carbondale Area Dress Factories. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the ladies auxiliary of Marian Community Hospital, both of Carbondale. She was an avid quilter and enjoyed cooking. She was a kind and generous person to her family and friends. Anna and Helen would like to thank the staff of the Carbondale Nursing Home, Dr. Bekele, and the Social Service Department for their kindness, not only to Mary, but to both of us. Our special thanks to Michele Cawley and the aids of Southern Care Hospice who treated Mary with so much love and respect. She is survived by two of her sisters who were her dedicated caregivers for the last 7 1/2 years, Anna Premock, Carbondale, and Helen Telep, Johnson City, N.Y.; two additional sisters, Stella Holowatch, Endicott, N.Y., Chris Davey, Owego, N.Y.; two brothers, Peter Premock. Apalachin, N.Y., and Steven Premock, Carbondale; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Walter and Metro.
The funeral will be Friday with Services at 11:00 a.m. in the Carbondale First United Methodist Church, 10 N. Church St., Carbondale, by Pastor Keith Benjamin. Interment in Willow View Cemetery, Clifford. Friends may call Friday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
