Johann (John) Gnan
of Endwell
Johann (John) Gnan, 99, passed away Wednesday, September 24, 2008, at the Ideal Senior Living Center, Endicott. He was predeceased by his wife of 74 years, Elsie, on February 7, 2008; and a granddaughter, Linda Slama. He is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Helen and Steven Slama, Endicott; son and daughter-in-law, John and Nancy Gnan, Melbourne, Fla.; grandchildren, Nancy and Andrew Slawta, Henrietta, N.Y., William and Bobbie Gnan, Oviedo, Fla., Steven Slama and Penny, Endicott, Theresa and Steve Mullineaux, Endicott, Kathryn and Lawrence Bloomfield, Mullica Hill, N.J.; ten great-grandchildren; niece, Loretta and Henry Spencer, Milan, Pa.; and nieces and nephews living in Germany. Mr. Gnan lived in Jeffersonville, N.Y., where he and his wife ran a dairy farm from 1946 until 1980 when they moved to Endwell. He was a longtime member of the Church of the Holy Family, Endwell (Our Lady of Angels) and was a member of Broome West Senior Citizen Center.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. from the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street, followed by a Funeral Mass at the Church of the Holy Family at 11:30 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home, Monday from 10 a.m. until service time at 11 a.m. Expressions of sympathy in Mr. Gnan's memory may be made to the Church of the Holy Family, 3600 Phyllis Street, Endwell, N.Y. 13760. The family wishes to extend special thanks to the staffs of both Lily and Violet Courts at Ideal Senior Living Center for their care and concern.
