Donald E. Daley Sr.
of Berkeley Twsp., N.J.
Donald E. Daley Sr., age 65, of Silver Ridge Park Westerly Section of Berkeley Twsp., N.J., died Saturday, October 4, 2008, at the VA Medical Center, East Orange, N.J. Born in Jersey City, N.J., he lived in Endicott, N.Y. before moving to Berkeley Twsp. in 2001. He graduated from Newark College of Engineering, receiving a Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering. Donald was a Financial Analyst at IBM in Endicott, N.Y. for 30 years, retiring in 1993. Following retirement from IBM, he worked as a Bus Driver for the Central Regional School System and Silverwoods, Manchester, N.J. Mr. Daley served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. Donald was a parishioner of St. Maximilian Kolbe RC Church, Berkeley Twsp., and was a member of IBM's Quarter Century Club, the Silver Ridge Park Westerly Men's Club, the Knights of Columbus, Endicott, N.Y., and was a former member of the Silver Ridge Park Westerly Board of Trustees. He enjoyed hunting and collecting coins. Predeceased by his parents, William and Margaret Daley. Surviving are his wife of 41 years, Sharon (nee Ruf) Daley; a son and daughter-in-law, Donald Jr. and Wilma J. Daley, Clayton, N.C.; a daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly Daley and John T. Law, Sound Beach, N.J.; four brothers, William Daley, Port Reading, N.J., John Daley, Selden, N.Y., Robert Daley, Seaford, Delaware, and James Daley, Easton, Pa.; three grandchildren, Erin Daley, Max Law and Seth Law.
The family will receive friends Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals, 145 St. Catherine Blvd., Toms River. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Wednesday 11:30 a.m. at St. Maximilian Kolbe RC Church, Berkeley Twsp. Committal will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a veteran organization of your choice.

Sharon, I am very sorry to hear of the death of Don. I am sure there is nothing that I could say that can truly comfort your loss. But as you know, Don was a good guy with a great sense of humor. I always enjoyed the discussions Don and I had, and will always remember him. I wish you the best in the future.

To the Daley family, I am sorry to hear about your loss. I am sure there are a whole lot of memories!! I for one have one! I was reading in the obit about Mr. Daley being an avid hunter...it made me remember the times while I was growing up looking down the street seeing a deer hanging off your back deck! Take care and I am sorry about your loss.
