In My Pocket
I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.
My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.
They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.
Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.
But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.

Dear Aunt Mary,
I spent a lot of time at your house growing up -with my mom, your sister and my dad. We had many good meals that you whipped up in a flash. There was a mass I took you to in Endicott that had people dancing down the aisle and I thought you would faint. There was the 90's when I worked in Johnson City and mom and I stopped over frequently. I involved you with the foreign exchange student at the high school from Slovakia and brought her up to your house to visit. There was the time you, mom and I went down to the farm and you both went into the house after not being there for many years, the time we went to Scranton for kielbasi and then we stopped for ice cream and I took a picture of you and mom eating ice cream, the times mom drove you and Uncle Andy for his eye appointments, the Christmas Eve's when mom and I came to your house for dinner and mom always did the dishes, when mom would do some cleaning for you, when we sat on the front porch, then for five years I waited until you got your passport and convinced you to go to Slovakia, arranged for a car and driver to take you and mom to MD and take you back home, had you and mom go to the Pentagon while I worked but both of you didn't like it-too much walking. We had a great flight and you were a trooper walking around in Prague. In Slovakia, you were in your glory talking Slovak to Anna till all hours in the morning and you took over her kitchen cooking. It was nice you had an opportunity to see where your parents were born and see their gravesites. We had a great time walking in the snowy weather thru the state park. We went to Prague and stayed in a B&B. It took us a while at night to find the place and walk we did. We arrived back to the states on Easter Sunday and the cherry blossoms were in full bloom in DC. I took you and mom to stay on the base overnight awaiting the driver to take you back home the next day. We never came to your house again until the very end. Your little sister was there for you Aunt Mary.

I have such fond memories of (Mary) Mrs. Wargo. She took care of me for many years when my father was at work. As our next door neighbor she was always there for us. Her home was always such a welcoming place to be. She will be missed greatly.

Mary was a wonderful neighbor. She had a sparkling personality and a great attitude. She was a hard worker and appreciated that quality in others.
I'll miss seeing her outside shoveling her walk at 6 A.M. on a snowy morning, the first one in the neighborhood to get to it. And I'll continue to think of her when each year, the plants she gave me many years ago, grow up in my yard.
God loves you, Mary!
