John Rychlewski Obituary

John L Rychlewski
of Kirkwood, N.Y.
John L. Rychlewski, 72, passed away with his family at his side after a short but difficult battle with cancer on Saturday, October 11, 2008. He was predeceased by his parents, John and Jessie Rychlewski, his brother Stanley and his infant daughter Lisa Margaret. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Nancy Rychlewski, Kirkwood. Two sons and one daughter-in-law, Michael and Terry Rychlewski, Paul Rychlewski. Two daughters and sons-in-law Beverly and William Emmett, Ann Marie and Scott Belles, all of which reside in Kirkwood. Five granddaughters, Catherine Knapp, Megan Rychlewski, both of Kirkwood, Aislynn Paccio and Faith Rychlewski, both of Hallstead, Pa., and Lisa Canny, Connecticut. One grandson, Chad Rychlewski also of Kirkwood. He is also survived by a brother and his wife, Walter and Holly Rychlewski, Jacksonville, Fla.; and a niece Hope Vivianio and husband David, also of Jacksonville, Fla. A wonderful and caring sister-in-law, Gerry Rychlewski, Binghamton, and her son Craig and his wife Marcy, Conklin, and daughter Christy Austin and her husband, Donald Austin, of Berkshire. Several great nieces and one great nephew. John served two years in the U.S. Army and upon returning home in 1957 married and then was involved in the dairy production end of the family business, The Riverside Dairy Bar. After the business closed he went to work for the Kirkwood Highway Department where he eventually became Deputy Commissioner of Public Works until his retirement after twenty-five years. He was always willing to drop everything and lend a hand to anyone and he will be sadly missed by his many friends and his family. His loyal dog, Brandy, has been missing him for months.
Funeral Services will be held at Broad Avenue North Presbyterian Chapel, 38 Broad Avenue, Binghamton, N.Y., on Monday at 1:00 p.m. The Rev. Dr. Stephen W. Starzer will officiate. Burial will be in Kattelville Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Church Monday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the services. Arrangements are by the Thomas J. Shea Funeral Home, Inc., 137 Robinson St. Binghamton, N.Y. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Broad Avenue North Presbyterian Chapel, P.O. Box 99 ESS, Binghamton, N.Y. 13904 in John L. Rychlewski's memory.
