Vernon C. Peck
of Bumpville, Pa.
If love could have saved you, you would have lived forever...
Surrounded by his family, Vernon C. Peck, of Bumpville, (RR 1, Ulster, Pa.) went home to be with his Lord on Saturday morning, October 11, 2008. Affectionately known as Vern by his family and friends, he was born on March 9, 1943 in Towanda, Pa., a son of Edward T. and Ruth P. (Rollison) Peck. He was a graduate of Northeast Bradford High School class of 1961. On June 24, 1962 he married Connie Crain and together they shared 46 wonderful years of marriage. Vern was a retired employee of DuPont where he worked in research and development. He was a devoted member of the Bumpville Bible Church where he served as Deacon and as a Sunday school teacher. Vern enjoyed carpentry, gardening and being surrounded by the great outdoors. Although his greatest pleasure was being with his family and his special grandchildren. Vern is survived by his loving family, his wife Connie; son and daughter-in-law: Ben and Stephanie Peck of Barton, N.Y.; his precious grandchildren: Megan and Nathan Peck; mother-in-law Helen Crain Young; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Jim and Linda Crain; Lora Antisdel and Don Parks; several nieces, nephews, cousins and their families also survive. Vern was predeceased by his parents Edward and Ruth Peck; a son Douglas Peck in 1967; grandson Joshua Benjamin Peck in 2004; father-in-law Elmer W. Crain in 1980; brother-in-law: Leigh Antisdel in 2002; sister-in-law: Rae Parks in 2007.
Funeral Services and celebration of Vern's life will be held on Tuesday, October 14th at 1 p.m. at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 S. Main St., Nichols with his pastor and friend, Rev. Ron Dyer, officiating. Burial will follow in the Bumpville Cemetery. A period of visitation and sharing memories will be held on Monday, October 13th from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
