Joseph Carnese
of Montrose, Pa.
Joseph Carnese, 88, of Montrose, Pa., passed away on Sunday, October 12, 2008, at Binghamton General Hospital, surrounded by his family. Joseph was born in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. on August 20, 1920, to the late John and Angeline Carnese. He is survived by his wife, Doris (Lewis) Carnese, with whom he celebrated his 59th wedding anniversary in July. Also surviving are his four children, Joyce, wife of Michael Diekman, Jill, companion of Michael Cook, Doreen, wife of Dennis Obetz, Joseph and his wife, Jean; sister, Mary Carnese, Harford, Pa.; brother, John Carnese, Binghamton, N.Y.; six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, many brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and their families. Joseph was predeceased by two sisters, Nellie Liparulo, and Rose Carnese; and a brother, Michael Carnese. Joseph grew up in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., was a veteran of WWII, and a 33 year retiree of Bendix. He enjoyed making things out of wood for his family and friends, working outside in his yard, dancing, exercising, and the many friends he made everywhere he went. He was a member of the Holy Name of Mary Church. Joseph will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by his family and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 15, 2008, at the Holy Name of Mary Church, with Rev. Gerard F. Safko officiating. Interment will be in the Holy Name of Mary Cemetery. Visitations will be on Tuesday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Daniel K. Regan Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, or to the Montrose Library.
