Greta Mowers Obituary
of Newark Valley
Greta L. Berry Mowers, 91, passed away on Oct. 19, 2008 following a period of declining health. Greta is survived by her loving husband, Harold A. 'Mike' Mowers; her sons, James Mowers and Gerald Mowers; four grandchildren; her brothers, Gordon Berry, and G. Dale Berry; her sisters, Sara Stephenson, Junia Meeker, Hilda Bakeman, Bernice Landmesser; and several nieces and nephews. Greta was born on August 23, 1917 in Windham Twp., Pa., a daughter of Harland R. and Viola Wiggins Berry. She was a graduate of Nichols High School. Throughout her life, Greta has had a great love of nature and especially enjoyed her long walks through the woods. She also loved to knit. The many sweaters she crafted are treasured by all those who have received them.
A graveside service will be held at the Nichols Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Caring assistance is being provided by the MacPherson Funeral Home, Newark Valley.
