William Baldwin Obituary

William H. Baldwin
formerly of Nichols, N.Y.
William H. Baldwin, 67, of Spring Meadow Lane, Culpeper, Va., and formerly of Nichols, N.Y., passed away peacefully with his family at his side on Sunday evening, October 19, 2008. Bill was born on November 5, 1940, in Warwick, N.Y. a son of the late Hugh and Marea (Hill) Baldwin. He was a veteran of the US Navy and was a member of the Nichols Fire Dept. and the Nichols American Legion. Bill was an avid NASCAR fan, especially enjoying watching Dale Ernhardt, Sr. Bill is survived by his wife of 47 years, Belle M. (Felton) Baldwin; his children, Laura (Kenn) Briggs, Nichols; Carol (Keith) Hopkins, Elon, N.C., Teri (David) Shumway, Orange, Va.; Valarie (Daniel) Walker, Haywood, Va.; Pamela (John) Coffman, Brandy Station, Va.; his sisters, Doris (Robert) Jones, S.C., Amy Baldwin, N.Y.; and a brother, George Michael (Mary) Baldwin, N.Y.; eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews and their families also survive. He was predeceased by his parents; a sister, Bernice Phalin; and two grandsons.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service and celebration of Bill's life on Saturday, October 25, at 11 a.m. at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 S. Main St., Nichols, with Pastor Curtis Coffman officiating. Interment with Military Honors will follow in the Nichols Cemetery. A period of visitation and sharing memories will be held at the funeral chapel from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 11 a.m. Memories and condolences for Bill's family may be shared by visiting our website at www.sutfinfuneralchapel.com.
