Dear Gary, Debbie and the rest of the extended Dyer family:
Betty was an extraordinary woman who touched the lives of so many people through her kindness and her music. She was a good friend of my mother's (Jean Edson Smithka) in their younger days and she was a good friend to me in my teens, as well as a fine Sunday-school and Awana teacher. She was a patient and caring human being and the world is a much better place for having had a woman like Betty in it. She has left an indelible mark on many of us.
My heartfelt condolensces in your loss.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

My Dad was an equiptment operator when I was young. He would do work for many businesses. He would tell me of the Dyer family, how wonderful they were.He spoke of them as if they were royality. In fact,as a young girl,I thought that Betty Dyer was a Queen. When I grew up,I had the pleasure of meeting Betty and her family. She was everything I expected and more. She was beautiful and intelligent, but more than that, she was warm and loving.
You could always count on Betty to have a kind word and a warm smile. She will be deeply missed by so many.

Deb, my deepest sympathy to you and your family in the loss of your mother. As I read her obituary online, it thrilled my heart that she served the Lord with her musical talents. Many years ago, I was a member of Glen Aubrey Baptist Church. I am glad we spent time together at the M-E Reunion this summer; it was good to see you. May you find comfort and strength in your memories of your mom.

We have lost a special lady, but heaven has gained an angel. Betty lived what she believed. I feel privileged that I had the opportunity to meet her and get to know her. She was always very thoughtful and kind to me and many others. Betty will truly be missed by not only your dear family but all who have have come to know her. "To live is Christ and to die is gain." She may be gone but never will be forgotten. Since she is with our Heavenly Father, we can be happy for her, even in our sadness. Our sincere sympathy.

We are so deeply saddened with heavy hearts when Gary phoned us of Betty's illness. She has been so dear to Helen and us during the last 9 months. Her weekly calls and cards lifted Helen's spirits and gave Mark and I great peace. She so enjoyed her walks with her special pets on the flat and so enjoyed sharing them with helen and us. She gave us great encouragement to trust in our Wonderful Savior for the answers to our needs and prayers. Though we are sad we know she's in the most blessed Home with her Lord. She will be sadly missed. Many prayers and we will come visit when we come in a few weeks. Helen,Debbie and Mark Stanton

Gary, Debbie & family,
Strength, sincerity, honesty, non-judgmental and forgiving love. These are just a few words that I have had the privilege of experiencing from your Mom. From my earliest years your Mom, Aunt Betty and Dad, Uncle Ray showed me and many others unconditional love and laughter. They made me proud of being a Dyer. Thank you for sharing each of them with me and my family. Most especially thank you to Betty for "being" to Mark. Betty will bring a smile to my mind’s eye and I am certain many many others. Our love and prayers are with you.

Gary,
When my dad died I was devasted. Your mom sent me a sympathy card that said "God Never Makes A Mistake", those words have sustained me throughout the years and have given me peace that he went to be with his Lord and how lucky he was! Your mom was a great lady and I am so sorry for your loss, and I quote your mom's words to me to you!
Love,
Cheri

I owe a a debt of graditude to your mom, through her Christian love she taught me what it meant to be a Proverbs 31 woman. I was saved at UCC in 1974 as a result of Mrs. Dyer.
Since that time my husband I have been missionaries to Uganda, Africa
and pastored two churches in Colroado. Words cannot express my heartfelt thankfulness for Mrs. Dyer being a part of my life. I am the woman I am today in part from her godly influence. My thoughts and prayers are with her family.
