Muriel M. Greene (nee Maines), 81, a resident of Pawleys Island, S.C., and beloved wife of 55 years of the late C. Frank Greene, passed away Wednesday, October 22, 2008, following an illness. Born January 21, 1927 in Binghamton, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Walter and Lucille Maines. Survivors include three sons, John Greene, Baltimore, Md., James Greene, Elizaville, N.Y., Jay Greene, Buford, Ga.; four grandchildren, Jennifer, Naomi, Vaughn and C. Keaton; and one great-grandson, Darrian. She is also survived by her sister, Narda Armour, Binghamton; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a fourth son, Jeffrey Greene; and one brother, Eldredge "Sy" Maines. Mrs. Greene was a long time golfer which she enjoyed into her later years as a member of Litchfield Country Club. She was also a lifetime member of The Order of the Eastern Star, Otseningo Chapter #14, in Binghamton. She and her husband were members of Pawleys Island Presbyterian Church.
A memorial service will be held 12:00 p.m. Thursday, October 30, 2008, at Pawleys Island Presbyterian Church, in Pawleys Island, S.C. An online guestbook is available at www.goldfinchfuneralhome.com.
