Betty Koval Obituary

Betty E. Koval
of Binghamton
Betty E. Koval, 81, of Binghamton and Constantia, N.Y., beloved wife and mother, passed away with her devoted husband of 62 years by her side at Binghamton General Hospital on Friday, October 31, 2008, after battling lengthy illness with grace and courage. Betty was predeceased by her parents, Florence and Benjamin Webb; and a brother, Jack Webb. She is survived by her lifelong love, Thomas R. (Bob) Koval; son and daughter-in-law, Daniel and Dee Koval; daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Dennis Walker; grandson, Timothy Koval; step grandsons, Michael (Margo) Reynolds, Vincent Montgomery and Cory (Larissa) Montgomery; her "chi-chi" (sister), Marion (James) Stratton; in-laws, Joan Cermak, Lucille VanKuren, Donald (Ann) Koval, John (Joann) Koval; several nieces and nephews and numerous friends. Retired from Orthopedic Associates, Betty was the medical office asst. for Dr. James Woodruff. She was an original member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Chenango Bridge, N.Y., and helped make the mosaics displayed on the wall behind the alter. She was also a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, Constantia, N.Y., where she served as head of the Alter Guild for years. Betty was an accomplished accordion player, loved music and reading, enjoyed traveling with her husband, relaxing at the lake, and sharing her Sunday afternoon "toddy" with Bob. Most of all, she cherished spending time with her family. Heartfelt thanks to the caregivers at Bridgewater 2nd floor; Memorial 3 at Binghamton General Hospital; Dialysis Unit at 65 Penn. Ave.; Dr. David Simon; Dr. V. Jayaraman and all those who loved and supported Betty and her family. Betty's twinkling blue eyes and dimpled smile were just a reflection of her beautiful soul.
In celebration of Betty's life, the family will receive friends from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, River Road, Chenango Bridge, N.Y. on Wednesday, November 5, 2008, followed by a Memorial Mass at 2 p.m. presided by Father Mark Giroux. Bob , Danny ,S and the extended Koval family ; Oh ! so many great memories we do have...Our deepest sympathies are extended to you all. Your loss , expected , is by no means less painful. To be sure the good Lord comforted her , took her by the hand and walked with her all the way home, and when there God looked down from his golden throne and greeted her "Betty welcome to my kingdom".

Why we wait till times like these to reach out to people who meant so much to us is hard to understand. They say it takes a village to raise a child and I am glad that both Betty and Bob were part of mine. Thanks for the Waffles Betty, and all the big candy bars on Halloween, and letting Bob come to my rescue even after he just gotten out of the hosiptal . I have never forgotten all those memories of Depot Hill and the special people who lived next door. Thanks Bob for not telling my dad the time BD walker and I took the tractor for a joy ride and almost tipped it over. I still say happy Birthday to you each May. No words can make it easier but I hope that all the memeories of love and good times will make it easier to accept. Love Jeanne Creagh
