William "Bill" Alexander
of Owego
William S. Alexander, 84, of Owego, passed away on Sunday, November 2, 2008. Mr. Alexander was predeceased by his wife of 56 years, Alice Alexander. Bill is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, William S. and Nancy Alexander, Jr., Clyde, N.Y.; grandsons, Dana Alexander, Owego, Jesse Alexander, Clyde; brother, Richard Alexander, Grafton, N.H.; several nieces and nephews. Mr. Alexander was born on December 27, 1923 in Newport, N.H. He married Alice Lorraine Breault on June 5, 1948 in Claremont, N.H. Bill was a WWII veteran of the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Air Force. He retired from IBM, Owego, N.Y. Bill was an active member of St. Patrick's Church, Owego, and was a member of the Secular Franciscan Order.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, November 5, 2008, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church, Owego, N.Y., with the Rev. William Moorby officiating. Burial will follow in the Parish Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Estey, Munroe & Fahey Funeral Home, 15 Park St., Owego. Memorial contributions may be made in William S. Alexander's memory to St. Patrick's Church, 300 Main St., Owego, N.Y. 13827; or the Tioga Country Rural Ministry, 143 North Avenue, Owego, N.Y. 13827.
