Evalyn Ashford Wheaton, 93, of Bradenton, Fla., passed away Saturday morning, November 3, 2007. She was predeceased by her husband of 46 years, R. Leslie Ashford, in 1989. She is survived by her husband, Robert H. Wheaton, Bradenton, Fla.; a daughter, Leslie Jane Ashford, Bradenton, Fla.; and a stepson, David Wheaton, Framingham, Mass. She was a 1936 graduate of Syracuse University, where she was a member of Delta Kappa. She was a math and science teacher for 37 years with the Binghamton Public School System. She was also a member of the Chenango Bridge First United Methodist Church, a former member of the OES, the Monday Afternoon Club, the Broome Chapter of NYS Retired Teachers Association, and the American Association of University Women.
Funeral and committal services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday at the Hopler Funeral Home, 483 Chenango St., with the Rev. Daniel Ling, Pastor of the Chenango Bridge First United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Chenango Valley Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday, 7 to 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, friends may make memorial contributions to the Bayshore Covenant Church, 603 63rd Ave. W, Bradenton, Fla. 34207, or to Hospice of Southwest Florida, Sarasota, Fla.
