Theresa A. (Gay) Kalka
of Conklin
Theresa A. Kalka, age 86, passed away peacefully in her sleep Thursday, November 8, 2007, at her home. She is predeceased by her husband, Paul (1982); and one son, Tommy (1963); also three sisters, Mary Carelli, Irene Severence, and Margaret and Tom Easton of California. She is survived by one daughter, Margaret Kalka and Arthur Mancini, Conklin; two sons and one daughter-in-law, James and Marcella Kalka, Binghamton, and Paul Kalka, Binghamton; two grandchildren, Jennifer and Tom Kisloski, Binghamton, and Steven and Arlyn Kalka, Miami, Fla.; and her beloved cat, Rosie; also many friends and extended family. She was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Redeemer. She had retired in 1987 from GAF with over 40 years of service. She had also served her country during WWII in the Women's Army Air Corps. Among her interests and associations were the Sokols, the Czechoslovak Moravan Club (members are requested to assemble at 5:00 p.m., Sunday evening), and the Anitec Retirement Group. Theresa loved to travel and play the slots and was a BIG Yankees fan.
Funeral services will be held Monday, 10 a.m. at the Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, 72 Main St., Binghamton, with the Rev. Michelle Fisher officiating. Burial will be in the Riverhurst Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Sedlock Funeral Home, Inc., 161 Clinton St., Binghamton, on Sunday evening from 4-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that those wishing may make memorial contributions in Theresa's name to Project P.A.W., Inc., 127 Bevier St., Binghamton, N.Y., or the American Heart Association. "Make yourself familiar with the Angels, and behold them frequently in spirit, for without being seen, they are present with you." Mom, you are our Angel now, and with us always.
