Arthur Schmitz
of Bainbridge, N.Y.
Arthur "Pete" Schmitz of Bainbridge and the Oneonta Nursing and Rehabilitation Center passed away Thursday, November 8, 2007, at Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown. He was born in Sherman, Pa., to the late Clarence and Della Schmitz. Arthur was employed as a machinist for Bendix Corp. in Sidney when he retired. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and enjoyed farming. He is predeceased by his wife, Josephine (Blowers) Schmitz in 1987; as well brother, Lloyd Schmitz; and sister, Amelia Brice. He is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Raymond and Viola Schmitz, Bainbridge; daughter, Carol Cook Bainbridge; grandchildren, Julie and Charles Olcott and their children, Jordan, Mariah and Jadyn; William and Amy Cook and their daughter, Mikayla; and Darrin Cook; son-in-law, Roger Cook; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may call Monday, November 12, 2007, from 6-8 p.m. at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St., Sidney. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 13, at the funeral chapel at 11:00 a.m. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery in Bainbridge. Memorial contributions may be made to the Oneonta Nursing and Rehabilitation Center Resident Council Fund, 330 Chestnut St., Oneonta, N.Y. 13820. The family wishes to thank the staff for the wonderful care Arthur received.

PET WAS A DEAR MAN .I HAVE NOT SEEN PET IN YEARS HE DID COME IN ALL THE TIME WHERE I USED TO WORK YEAR AGO.HOTEL DECUMBER. WE HAD ALOT OF FUN JUST A REAL NICE PERSON

pete was good guy for a cookout and i ate a few with him in 30 years or so that i new him. he had a good smile when he hear something funny or a good joke. the best was the look on his face when he got a good buy at a farm auction and he new it.
