Blanche (Gajdik) Turan
of Johnson City
Blanche Turan, age 84, passed away peacefully Friday evening, November 9, 2007, at the James Johnston Nursing Home after a long illness. She is predeceased by her husband, Marshall in 1992; and one son, Michael. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Mary and Mario Legnini, Livonia, Mich., Patricia and George Lillie, Johnson City; one daughter-in-law, Joyce Turan, St. Charles, Missouri; two grandchildren, Scott and Michelle Turan; one great-granddaughter, Alexis Turan; also many nieces and nephews; and her friend and roommate, Theresa Ferranti. She was a member of SS. Cyril and Method Church, and also it's Altar Rosary Society. She belonged to the Czechoslovak Moravian Club, the American Legion Auxiliary Post 758, Johnson City, the First Catholic Slovak Ladies Union, CSA.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, 9:00 a.m. from the Sedlock Funeral Home, 161 Clinton Street, Binghamton, and 9:30 a.m. at St. Cyril's Church, where a Funeral Mass will be offered for her. Burial will be in the Slovak Catholic Cemetery. The family received friends at the Sedlock Funeral Home on Tuesday evening from 4 to 7 p.m. Members of the Czechoslovak Moravian Club assembled at 6 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that those wishing may make memorial contributions in Blanche's name to the American Diabetes Foundation or the American Heart Association. The family would like to thank all the nurses and staff (Floor 1) at the James Johnston Nursing Home for all the care and compassion given to Blanche.

Dear Mary, Patty and family,
I am so deeply sorry about your mom. She was one of my favorite cousins. What I remember most is sitting on the front porch and having all kinds of discussions. She was so easy to talk to. Sending my deepest sympathy to all the family. Thinking of you.
