Mathias Burgher
of Johnson City
Mathias Burgher, 76, went to be with his Lord on Wednesday morning, November 14, 2007, at the Good Shepherd-Fairview Home. He is survived by his devoted wife, Rose Marie (Laskoski) Burgher, Johnson City; his daughter, Karen and her husband, Kenneth Hoover, Middletown, Conn.; his son, Kevin Burgher, Johnson City; five grandchildren, Rachel, David and John Hoover and Matthew and Emily Burgher; and their mother, Patricia Burgher; his brother, Bradford Burgher and his wife, Jane; a niece, a nephew; his sister-in-law, Mrs. Eric (Marguerite) Johnson; and his special aunt, Sister Florence Majewski. He was a member of the Church of the Holy Trinity and a lifetime member and past commander of the Johnson City V.F.W. Post #2332. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and a retired employee of the I.B.M. Corporation, Endicott.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday 10 a.m. at the Chopyak-Scheider Funeral Home, 326 Prospect Street, Binghamton, with the Rev. Alfred Bebel officiating. Burial will follow with Military Honors in Glenwood Cemetery, Town of Dickinson. The family will receive friends Saturday 9 a.m., until the time of the service at the Chopyak-Scheider Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider contributing in Matt's memory to Good Shepherd-Fairview Home Foundation, 80 Fairview Avenue, Binghamton, N.Y. 13904; or Our Lady of Lourdes Hospice Program, 169 Riverside Drive, Binghamton, N.Y. 13905.

The service was lovely and attended by many family and friends. The honor guard at the cemetary gave him a send-off I know he would have been proud of.
