Catherine Wolcott Obituary

Catherine M. Wolcott
of Newark Valley
On Monday, November 19, 2007, the soul of Catherine M. Wolcott (nee Andrews), 67, departed this world of pain and suffering and entered the Kingdom of Heaven to live with God and her Savior, Jesus Christ, for all eternity. Catherine was greeted in heaven by her husband, John F. Wolcott who predeceased her in 2000; and her grandmother, Inez Cook, whose strength, love and memory carried Catherine throughout her life. She will always be remembered for the loving and special things she did to make her family's lives as beautiful as possible. Catherine is survived by her devoted daughter and son-in-law, Toni and Dale Dean, Newark Valley, who, along with her treasured grandsons, Alex and Nathan, have lovingly cared for Catherine since she was paralyzed in a tragic automobile accident in 2003. She is also survived by her parents, Robert and Marjorie McGovern, Kirkwood; son and daughter-in-law, Jonathan and Maria Wolcott, Vestal and her much loved grandchildren, Casey and Lindsay; sister, Elaine Cosilmon, Windsor; brother and sisters-in-law, Charles and Ruth Wolcott, Binghamton, Dolores Wolcott, Binghamton, Barbara Smith, Binghamton; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. She leaves behind two very dear friends, Joanne McNerney, Binghamton and Carolina Stein, Susquehanna, Pa. Catherine was also cared for by four wonderful aides from Ideal Home Care, Amy Genuing, Sue Walker, Kathy Harnett and Sue Cuny. They truly became her friends through the many years they assisted in her care. Catherine grew up in the village of Kirkwood, and after marrying John, moved and spent the next 43 years living in Binghamton. She worked much of her life, as a school guard and later in various offices throughout the area. She had an intense love of reading and spent much of her time making her yard a sanctuary of beauty for the birds. Catherine was a woman of strength, both emotionally and physically. She spent years enduring tremendous pain and suffering, due to the paraplegia and the problems associated with it. She did all she could to remain on this earth for the sake of her family. It is with great sadness that her family move forward in life without her but also a great joy that she is finally free from the pain and suffering that she had to endure. We are blessed to have God's promise that we will once again be reunited with her when we all join her in heaven.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Reverend Krzysztof Boretto at 9:30 a.m., Saturday, November 24, 2007, at Saint John the Evangelist RC Church, 1263 Vestal Avenue, Binghamton. Interment will follow services in Calvary Cemetery. Family will receive friends 4:00 until 7:00 p.m., Friday, November 23rd, at the DeMunn Funeral Home, 36 Conklin Avenue, Binghamton. Expressions of sympathy for the family may be forwarded to [email protected]. I'll see you soon,

Toni,

My parents & I read her notice with great sorrow. We regret the lost of your acquired address, those many years ago, for with that we had lost the chance to get reacquainted with her. I remember so many things; like the unique way she had entertain us, when we were bored out of our minds. Not many parents were capable of relating to teen-agers,at that time. It is with heavy heart that I sign this book.
