Tione W. Maddox
of Binghamton
Tione W. Maddox, 56, of 7 Truesdell Ave., Binghamton, New York, and former resident of the Kingston/New Paltz area, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 21, 2007, at the home of his dear friend, Deborah Barrett, Copake Falls, New York. He had been residing in Binghamton, New York, with his close friend, Patricia Grosek since 1996. Mr. Maddox was born on July 17, 1951, in Donaldsonville, Georgia, to Willie C. Maddox and Alice Carr Moore, eventually making his way to New York State via Florida. He is survived by his ex-wife, Dawn Lea Denfrund, New Paltz, N.Y.; his children, Tyler L. Maddox, Binghamton, N.Y., Naomi C. Maddox, Kingston, N.Y., and Dakota Deyo, Danville, Illinois; sisters, Rashidah Najee-Ullah, Newark, N.J., Alice Rene Moore, Laura, Maryland, Phyliss Moore, Atlanta, Ga., Tanya Moore Jackson, Atlanta, Ga.; and brother, Jerald "Butch" Moore, also of Atlanta, Ga. Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his sister, Doris J. Morris.
A memorial service will be held at the Fountain of Life Church, 71 Old King's Highway, Lake Katrine, New York, on Thursday, November 29, 2007, at 1:00 p.m. Arrangement services have been provided by Peck & Peck Funeral Home of Copake Falls, and Simpson Gaus Funeral Home of Kingston, New York.

Via his son, Tyler, Tione was my "sweat and blood kin." He will always remain one of those unforgettable characters in my life. Despite our differences, among his last unsolicited words to me were, "let's pray," and on that we could always agree.
