Nicholas L. Shields, Sr.
May 15, 1917 –
November 22, 2007
Nick Shields, a native of Binghamton, died at his home in Huntsville, Alabama, on Thanksgiving Day. He is survived by his wife, JoAn Wilson Shields; his children, Nicholas Shields, Jr. and wife, Johanna, Suzy Shields Haney and husband, Mike, Elizabeth Shields Hines and husband, Tom, Thomas Shields. He had seven grandchildren, Anna Shields, Katherine Shields Tarica, Elizabeth Haney Mills, Caroline Haney, Morgan Sullivan, Thomas Shields, Jr., and Angela Shields. He had seven great-grandchildren. An Officer of the United State Marine Corps, he served as an aviator in the Pacific theater during WWII and as an infantry commander in Korea. He worked with Smith, Wilson Bros. and Stanton Insurance and for IBM on the Saturn V program.
Laughlin Service Funeral Home of Huntsville is assisting the family. His wish was to have memorial contributions made to the American Heart Association.
